He lays Darien carefully on the bed and goes back to the bar for ice, returning in moments. He gets a towel from the bathroom and fills it with ice, and sits on the edge of the bed, stroking Darien's hair a moment.

"Ready?"

He nods and kisses Charlie's cheek.

"Mmhm."

He strokes Darien's cheekbones with the backs of his fingers. "Am I rushing things? I know I asked for time, but . . ." He shakes his head. "I just want to be married. Get all the rest of this out of the way and just be married to you."

"I still haven't found Kevin to tell him."

"Then we gotta find Kevin. Unless you want to pull him aside one day and say 'Hey, you're my best man, come on.'"

"Of course you can sleep now," he says soothingly. "Want me to stay or let you be?"
