Charlie lies on his bed and shivers. He's sweating to the point that his t-shirt is damp. He pulls off his sweatshirt and kicks off his shoes, then pulls his sweatshirt back on.

It occurs to him this is more than letting himself get too cold today, but it's too tiring to move and seek help.

Instead, he just lies there.

Charlie makes a noncommital sound, then says, "I'm imagining inner organs going squish in your fist. Is it something like that?"

"No. WeLl. SoMetImeS...I bReAk tHe ThInGieS iNsiDe yOuR hEaD."

"Hm. Well. You won't have much fun in mine, I think--I'm already pretty broken. Well, messy and chaotic, anyway. And probably quite squishy."

"ThAt MiGhT bE My BaD a WeE bIt."

"Oh, no, love, it was mostly the heroin. And the Ecstasy. And the pot. And the . . . other stuff." He coughs again.

"YeS. My BaD. TiNy BiT." She pets his head. "I lIkE tHe CoLoUrS. DoN'T yOU?"

"The colors . . . yeah. They were cool." He sighs. "And the sleeping. Didn't mind that. Just lying there in the warm . . ."

"I SeT tHeM oN A mAn AnD AnD He ClAwEd HiS eYeS OuT. It WAS MeSsY."

The petting is nice. "I didn't know colors could be so violent. Mostly they just sang to me."

"Never had periwinkle . . . though I think I had turquoise once. Tasted like basil."

"I dOn'T lIkE ThEiR ShElLs."

"Yeah, terror to pick out of your teeth.

"I once saw a bloke stabbed by a shaft of light, was that your doing too?"

"MAyBe. I Do LoTS oF tHinGS. A LoT ArE bAd."

"No, it wasn't so bad. He was okay afterwards, not even bruised."

He leans his head on his arm. "So what do you do that's bad, Del?"

"StIcK bUgGiES oN PeOpLeS ArMs ThAt ArEn'T tHeRe UnTil ThEy ScRAtCh To ThE bOnE."

"Ah . . . so that was your doing," Charlie murmurs.

"YeP. BaD."

[bloodyrockgod]

"It was scary," Charlie admits. "I like the colors better than the bugs. And the singing. I like the singing a lot."

"ThE SiNGiNg Is NiCe. AnGeLiC Or DeMonIc."

[bloodyrockgod]

"I've never heard a demon sing. I've had an angel sing me to sleep, though. That's really nice. And not a dream."

"CoUlD Be a DreAm..."

"I've had demons sing in my dreams . . . I had an angel sing in my arms. Much better experience, I must say." More coughing. He pulls over a pillow to get more comfortable.
