Las Vegas.

At certain times of day the Strip appears nearly deserted; at others, cars move a crawl and the sidewalks are packed with people looking for an endless variety of a good time.

It's never cold in Las Vegas--it's just varying degrees of hot. The grand hotels cast shadows and there are fountains up and down the Strip, though few are intended to cool off the tourists as much as amuse them. There are few places to just sit and watch the city go past: the intention is to bring you inside, to gamble and shop and take in a show or two.

It's a strange city, of long nights and slow days, and there's a nervy sort of energy brought by vast amounts of money changing hands, of celebrities getting away for a wild night, of lives changing with a roll of the dice.

It's a perfect city, though, for a pair of dreamers to celebrate each other. Whether they take the High Octane option of Charlie's plans or the Lazy Day option, it's good just to be here, together.

Charlie is incapacitated with laughter. Cannae even fight back.

And the tickles stop as he starts kissing along Charlie's shoulder, still chuckling.

Charlie swats at him ineffectively, gasping for breath. "Git," he says again and then wraps his arms around Darien and rolls him onto his back and kisses him thoroughly. "Payback, boyo."

One hand is thrown against his forehead in melodramatic fashion.

"'Woe is me! for I am undone'"

Charlie tries to look serious--or at least crafty--but ends up giggling even more as he captures Darien's hands and holds them over his head. "Pay attention for a moment, please, before you distract me again with your bodacious self.

"Do we want to go out tonight or stay in?"

Utter and complete disbelief. Charlie...used that word?

"What? I've been living in L.A. for two years. I've picked up some of the lingo. Like, um, 'dude.' Or 'multi-picture deal with points.'"

He snorts.

"I've been living in California a good chunk of my life, Charlie and I haven't used bodacious since the Bill and Ted era."

"Fine, fine . . . how about 'lust-inducing.' Or 'distractingly sexy.' Or 'irresistible.' Do they satisfy your vocabulary gods?"

"Wouldn't want em any other way, though, now would you?"

"If I were looking for a new god I'd definately give yours ample consideration." He draws his hands down Darien's arms. "You still haven't answered my question."

"I dunno, Charlie. What're you up for?"

"I just want you to have a good time. Wouldn't mind the water park, though. A little sun would do us good, I think." He closes one eye to look at his rather pasty self.

"I fry without sunblock, so we'll need to get some when we buy the swimsuits. I bet you brown up nice."

A kiss.

"And not a tan line in sight."

"Oo," Charlie murmurs and slides down Darien's body to have a closer look. "Very smooth . . . I don't think you'd want to skip a suit at a water park, though."
