Charlie lies on his bed and shivers. He's sweating to the point that his t-shirt is damp. He pulls off his sweatshirt and kicks off his shoes, then pulls his sweatshirt back on.

It occurs to him this is more than letting himself get too cold today, but it's too tiring to move and seek help.

Instead, he just lies there.

He looks at his feet and then back at the girl. "Well, I'm not a big bloke so they're kind of small. Ish."

He nods in agreement. "True." He blinks at her a few times. "Have we met before? I feel like I know you."

"I KnOw LotS of PeOpLe. I'm. GoOd ThAt WAY." She grins. "I'm DeL."

"Hullo, Del. Charlie. I'm Charlie, I mean." He blinks at her more. "I like your hair."

"HeLlO ChArLiE. I lIkE YoUr NoSe."

He laughs and coughs. "Sorry. Stayed out in the cold too much today.

"Thank you," he adds politely. "It is a rather unique one, I'm told."

"ShOuLdN'T Do ThAt. AnD It Is NiCe. GoOd FoR TiNy FeEt And BiG EArS."

"And bad teeth," he says. "And painted fingernails." He shows her.

"OoOoO...PrEtTy." She nods. "I, um. LiKe."

"Thanks. I like 'em too." He coughs again and wraps his sweatshirt tighter around himself. "Probably ought not hang around much. You don't want my germs."

It may or may not be telling that he's not even questioning what a strange girl is doing in his room.

"DoNt GeT GeRmS."

"You're very lucky." He sneezes. "Sorry.

"So, Del. Angel, god, or demon? And I hope you're not an angel because I've had quite enough of those, thankyouverymuch." He sneezes and coughs at the same time. This takes skill. Well, not so much skill as timing.

"NoNe Of The AbOvE. I'm SoMeThIng ElSe."

"Hm." He nods. "Me too. Probably a different something else, though, yeah?"

"YeAh. I'M. DeLiRiUm."

He nods again. "I'm a bassist.

"Does that pay well, being delirium? Good benefits package?"

"No. BuT I GeT tO bReAk PeoPle."

Blink. Blink.

"You must be very strong for such a little thing."

"NoT tHaT KiNd Of BreAkiNg. InSIDeS Go To MuSh."

"Oh," says Charlie.

"And you . . . like doing that?"

"Um...I'm GoOd At It?"

Charlie makes a noncommital sound, then says, "I'm imagining inner organs going squish in your fist. Is it something like that?"

"No. WeLl. SoMetImeS...I bReAk tHe ThInGieS iNsiDe yOuR hEaD."

"Hm. Well. You won't have much fun in mine, I think--I'm already pretty broken. Well, messy and chaotic, anyway. And probably quite squishy."
